University of Missouri-St. Louis junior outside hitter Kelsie Rankin (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Rankin helped the Tritons pull into a first-place tie with Lewis following a pair of GLVC victories.
The Tritons opened the weekend with a sweep of No. 8 Lewis, 25-17, 25-22, 25-19. In the victory, Rankin posted eight kills, 11 digs and a block. Her efforts helped UMSL snap a 15-match losing streak to Lewis and hand the Flyers their first conference loss since 2008.
Rankin returned on Saturday to tally a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs in the Tritons’ 3-0 sweep over UW-Parkside, a team tied with the Tritons atop the GLVC standings heading into the match. Rankin finished the contest with a .737 hitting percentage and also added a block assist.
On the week, Rankin averaged 4.00 points, 3.83 kills and 3.50 digs per set. She finished the two matches with a .400 hitting percentage and added a pair of blocks.
Rankin is ranked second on the team in both kills (2.41) and digs (2.71) per set this season.
Missouri-St. Louis (12-3) is 5-1 in the GLVC and has won eight of its last nine matches. The Tritons will travel to Rockhurst and Drury this weekend.
