Drury’s Jaime Zapatero (Madrid, Spain.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. The senior led the Panthersto a fifth-place finish out of 41 teams at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational hosted by Loyola-Chicago this past Saturday.
Zapatero’s efforts helped the team finish with a score of 185. He led the way for the Panthers and finished the 8K race with a time of 25:07, which was good for thirdplace in a field of 528 runners.
The Panthers will compete again Oct. 16 at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Jordan Parayil, UIndy’s Mark Martinez, Lewis’s Andrew McLain, Missouri S&T’s Wynn McClellan, Saint Joseph’s Rocko Mazzanti and Wisconsin-Parkside’s Ben Orvold.
