University of Missouri-St. Louis junior middle hitter Weslie Gaff (Streator, Ill./Streator) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Gaff led No. 19 Missouri-St. Louis to a pair of GLVC road wins over the weekend.
On the week, Gaff averaged 4.57 points, 3.57 kills, 1.43 blocks and 0.43 digs per set. She finished the weekend with a .488 hitting percentage and averaged 12.5 kills per match.
She opened the week with a 13-kill performance in the Tritons’ four-set victory at Rockhurst on Friday. She hit .435 and added five blocks and a dig as Missouri-St. Louis collected just it’s third-ever win over Rockhurst.
On Saturday, Gaff returned to post 12 kills and five blocks in Missouri-St. Louis’ sweep at Drury. She posted a .550 hitting percentage and added two digs.
Gaff is averaging a team-best 2.96 kills and 0.85 blocks this season, while hitting at a .357 clip, good for second in the GLVC.
Missouri-St. Louis (14-3) is 7-1 in the GLVC and has won 10 of its last 11 matches. The Tritons are the GLVC’s top seed at the Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament this weekend and will face Ferris State, Northern Michigan and Tiffin.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Lewis’ Carly Perschnick, Missouri S&T’s Erin Bekebrede, Rockhurst’s Maggie McGovern, Southern Indiana’s Brittani Oliver and UIndy’s Jaymee Reynolds.
