University of Southern Indiana senior outside hitter Brittani Oliver (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Oliver paced the Eagles to a pair of victories on the week, including a win over No. 20 Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday.
In Friday’s sweep at Missouri S&T, Oliver nearly notched a double-double by posting 11 kills and nine digs. She had six of her kills and a .417 hitting percentage in the third set to help USI secure the victory.
Oliver posted 17 kills and 15 digs in the Eagles’ win over UMSL on Saturday. In the four-set win, Oliver hit .341 and also had two block assists and a service ace. She tallied six kills and five digs in the match-tying second set and posted a .409 hitting percentage with nine kills over the final two sets. The win over the Tritons marked USI’s first victory over a nationally-ranked opponent since 2008.
On the week, Oliver averaged 4.00 kills, 3.43 digs and a .319 hitting percentage. She committed just five attack errors and also added two service aces and two blocks.
Oliver is averaging 3.00 kills, 2.46 digs and a .277 hitting percentage this season. She ranks tenth in the league in kills per set.
USI (15-10) is in a four-way tie for fourth place in the GLVC at 8-4. The Eagles will close the regular season with home matches against Quincy and Illinois-Springfield this weekend.
