Northern Kentucky University sophomore middle hitter Shelby Buschur (St. Henry, Ohio/St. Henry) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Buschur guided the Norse to wins over No. 21 Missouri-St. Louis and Missouri S&T over the weekend.
For the week, Buschur posted a .414 hitting percentage and averaged 3.22 kills in the two matches.
She paced the Norse in their 3-2 upset win over the Tritons on Friday by posting 14 kills and a block. She finished the match with a .407 hitting percentage.
Buschur returned on Saturday to notch 15 kills and an assist in NKU’s 3-1 win over Missouri S&T. She posted a .429 hitting percentage in the match.
On the season, Buschur is averaging 3.37 kills, 0.66 blocks, 0.55 digs and 0.33 service aces per set. She is hitting at a .301 clip and ranks in the top ten in the GLVC in hitting percentage, kills and points per set (4.08).
With the victories, NKU (20-12) clinched its 18th consecutive 20-win season and locked up the No. 4 seed for the upcoming GLVC Tournament. The Norse finished in a three-way tie for third place in the conference standings with a 10-4 mark.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Krista Gibson, Lewis’ Hannah Koeneman, Missouri S&T’s Erin Bekebrede, Rockhurst’s Maggie McGovern, Southern Indiana’s Brittani Oliver and UIndy’s Kristina Kerrigan.
