Quincy University senior forward Courtney Shuman (Kahoka, Ill./Clark County) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Shuman led the Lady Hawks to a 99-86 win over visiting Central Missouri on Saturday.

In the victory, Shuman poured in a game-high 27 points on 12-of-16 shooting. Along with her 70 percent shooting effort from the field, she also pulled down four rebounds and added three steals and three assists.

Shuman is averaging 18.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.3 steals, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocked shots per game this season. She ranks fourth in the GLVC in scoring and seventh in field goal percentage (60.4 percent), blocked shots per game and steals per game.

Quincy (4-0), one of two remaining unbeaten teams in the GLVC, claimed its second straight win over Central Missouri after losing the first eight in the all-time series. The Lady Hawks will return to action tonight (Nov. 29) against visiting Culver-Stockton before beginning league play at Missouri S&T and Missouri-St. Louis this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Ja’Nell Jones, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Katie Behrens, Maryville’s Abby Duethman, Northern Kentucky’s Casse Mogan, Rockhurst’s Megan Cook, Southern Indiana’s Ellen Young and UIndy’s Samantha Meissel.
