Quincy University junior forward Ali Schwagmeyer (Camp Point, Ill./Camp Point Central) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Schwagmeyer averaged 22.5 points per game in wins over Oakland City and Northern Kentucky.
In Quincy’s 99-71 win over Oakland City on Thursday, Schwagmeyer notched 22 points, seven assists, five rebounds and a pair of steals. She shot 62 percent from the field to help the Lady Hawks to an 8-0 record in non-conference contests on the year.
Schwagmeyer returned on Sunday to guide the Lady Hawks to an 80-72 victory over visiting Northern Kentucky, snapping NKU’s seven-game winning streak. In the win, Schwagmeyer scored a game-high 23 points on 11-of-25 shooting. She also pitched in six rebounds, five assists and a steal.
For the two games, Schwagmeyer averaged 22.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. She also added three steals and shot 51.2 percent from the field.
On the season, Schwagmeyer ranks eighth in the GLVC in scoring (16.3), second in assists per game (5.1) and 10th in rebounds per game (6.6).
Quincy (10-1) has won five straight contests and is now 2-1 in the GLVC. The Lady Hawks are in second place in the GLVC North Division and will next host Indianapolis on Tuesday and visit Lewis on Saturday.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Lauren Jones, Drury’s Bethanie Funderburk, Lewis’ Jenny Turpel, Maryville’s Kate Childs, Missouri-St. Louis’ Kelly Mitchell and UIndy’s Cayla Keegan.
