Quincy University junior forward Ali Schwagmeyer (Camp Point, Ill./Camp Point Central) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Jan. 10-16. Schwagmeyer guided the Lady Hawks to key conference victories over Wisconsin-Parkside and Southern Indiana last week.
In the two contests, Schwagmeyer averaged 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game. She shot 51.4 percent from the field and 81.8 percent from the free throw line.
She opened the week by posting a team-high 20 points in Quincy’s 72-61 win over visiting UW-Parkside on Thursday. She did most of her damage from the free throw line by converting 12-of-13 attempts. Schwagmeyer also added three rebounds, three steals and two assists in the win.
In Quincy’s 92-81 win over visiting Southern Indiana on Saturday, Schwagmeyer tallied a game-high 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting. She chipped in seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals while also going 8-of-12 from the free throw line.
On the season, Schwagmeyer is averaging 18.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.8 steals per game. She ranks third in the GLVC in scoring, fourth in assists per game, seventh in steals per game and is in the top-15 in the league in rebounding, field goal percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio.
Quincy (15-1) has reeled off 10 straight victories after opening this week with a victory over Missouri-St. Louis on Monday. The Lady Hawks are in first place in the GLVC North Division with a 7-1 league record. They will complete competition this week with home games against Rockhurst and Drury.
