Newhart helped shave an 11-point Lewis lead late in the first half by scoring nine points in the final four minutes to pull the Eagles to within three, while her rebound in the closing seconds sealed the 60-58 win for her team.
On Saturday, Newhart scored a game-high 29 points in USI’s 72-66 win over Wisconsin-Parkside. She was 8-of-13 from the field and converted 13-of-14 free throw attempts. Newhart also chipped in four rebounds and a steal to help the Eagles secure a GLVC Tournament berth.
For the week, Newhart averaged 22.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. She shot 65.2 percent from the field, 92.9 percent from the free throw line and added two assists and two steals.
