Quincy University senior forward Courtney Shuman (Kahoka, Mo./Kahoka) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Shuman averaged a double-double in two league victories helping the 11th-ranked Lady Hawks secure at least a share of the GLVC North Division title.

In Quincy’s 86-74 win over Illinois-Springfield on Thursday, Shuman scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. She was 11-of-15 from the floor and also added three assists and a steal.

She returned on Saturday to post a double-double in the Lady Hawks’ 97-76 win over Saint Joseph’s. Shuman had a game-high 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. She was 11-of-18 from the field and converted 4-of-5 free throw attempts while also adding two assists and a steal.

For the week, Shuman averaged 24.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game. She shot 66.7 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line.

Shuman ranks sixth in the league in scoring this season (15.6 ppg) and third in the conference in rebounding (7.9 rpg). She is also fifth in the GLVC in field goal percentage (55.1) and seventh in blocked shots per game (0.88).

Quincy (23-1) has won 18 straight contests and is 15-1 in league play. The Lady Hawks own at least a share of the GLVC North Division title and will wind the regular season with games against Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside.

Other top performers last week included Drury’s Ja’Nell Jones, Lewis’ Jenny Turpel, Maryville’s Angela Pepowski, Southern Indiana’s Amie Newhart and UW-Parkside’s Amy Selk.
