University of Wisconsin-Parkside junior guard Jadee Rooney (Markesan, Wis./Markesan) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Rooney paced the Rangers to three wins last week including a 23-point victory over No. 13 Quincy to snap the Hawks’ 18-game winning streak.

For the week, Rooney averaged 21.6 points, 4.3 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.6 rebounds per game. She canned 53.5 percent of her attempts from the field (23-43) and was 13-of-25 from the three-point line (52.0%).

In UW-Parkside’s 83-60 win over Quincy on Monday, Rooney posted 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting. She knocked down 5-of-10 three-point attempts and also contributed five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

She returned on Thursday to guide the Rangers to a 78-47 win at Illinois-Springfield. In the victory, Rooney posted a career-high 30 points on 12-of-21 shooting and converted 5-of-9 three-point attempts. She also chipped in six assists, two rebounds and two steals.

Rooney capped her week with a 13-point effort in UW-Parkside’s 67-51 win at Saint Joseph’s on Saturday. She was 3-of-7 from the field and added three assists, two steals and a rebound.

This season, Rooney is ranked eighth in the GLVC in scoring (15.2 ppg), sixth in assists per game (3.8), first in free throw shooting (88.2), fifth in three-point field goals made per game (2.38) and seventh in three-point field goal percentage (43.1).

UW-Parkside (21-5) has won five straight games and closed the GLVC regular season with a 15-3 conference record. The Rangers secured the No. 2 seed for the GLVC Women’s Basketball Tournament and will host Bellarmine in a first-round game on Saturday.
