Northern Kentucky University senior pitcher Dave Middendorf (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Middendorf went the distance in his second start of the season and collected his first win on the year in Northern Kentucky’ s10-1 decision at Ouachita Baptist on Saturday. In the victory, Middendorf allowed just two hits and struck out ten. He surrendered just one unearned run in the first inning and walked only one. Middendorf retired 15 of 16 batters after giving up Ouachita Baptist’s lone run.
He is 1-0 on the season with a 2.19 earned run average in three appearances. Middendorf, an All-GLVC First Team selection in 2010, has limited opponents to a .154 batting average and has struck out 13 through 12 and one-third innings this season.
Northern Kentucky (4-2), ranked 25th in the latest Collegiate Baseball poll, will return to action this weekend at Southern Arkansas.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Kyle Dyer, Missouri-St. Louis’ Adam Raddick and Missouri S&T’s Zack Gronek.
