University of Southern Indiana sophomore infielder Stephanie Bittner (Evansville, IN/Mater Dei) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.
Bittner led Southern Indiana to a pair of victories over the weekend. She hit .714 and drove in six runs in leading the Eagles to victories over West Virginia Wesleyan and Mount Olive.
In the Eagles’ 8-7 extra-inning win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, Bittner went 3-for four with two runs, a career-high six RBIs and a pair of home runs.
She capped the day in Southern Indiana’s 10-2 win over Mount Olive by going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and three runs scored. She also picked up the win in the circle by allowing just one earned run in six innings of work.
This season, Bittner is hitting .400 and leads the team in home runs (2), RBIs (6) and walks (8).
Southern Indiana (4-4) will next head to the Rebel Spring Games beginning on Saturday.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Casey Willard, Drury’s Andi Anti, Indianapolis’ Dakota Malayer and Missouri-St. Louis’ Karey Kruse.
