Quincy University senior pitcher Torie Bunzell (Utica, Ill./LaSalle-Peru) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Bunzell recorded her second career perfect game and tossed a no-hitter in leading the Lady Hawks to a 5-1 record last week. She notched the perfect game in a 3-0 decision over Culver-Stockton on Wednesday and returned in the first game on Saturday at Wisconsin-Parkside to fire her ninth career no-hitter.

Against Culver Stockton, Bunzell struck out 17 batters in recording the rare perfect game. She then struck out 16 batters in no-hitting the Rangers in a 2-1 Quincy win in the first game on Saturday and returned to no-hit UW-Parkside through three innings in the second game as she struck out seven.

On Sunday, Bunzell collected a win in the opener at Saint Joseph’s, 3-0, as she recorded the shutout by striking out 13 and allowing just one walk. In the second game on Sunday, Bunzell allowed one hit and one earned run as the Lady Hawks fell 5-0.

For the week, Bunzell was 3-1 with a 0.52 earned run average. In 27 innings of work, Bunzell struck out 54 batters and allowed just two earned runs and six hits.

She is 10-4 on the season with a 0.67 ERA. With her 187 strikeouts on the year, she has moved into the top 10 on the NCAA career strikeout list (1,202).

Quincy (14-7) is 5-3 in the GLVC and will next travel to Illinois-Springfield on Saturday before hosting Lewis on Sunday.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Casey Willard, Indianapolis’  Jennifer DeMotte, Lewis’ Diana Pickrum, Maryville’s Julie Jouglard, Northern Kentucky’s April Ehlers and Rockhurst's Megan Holm.
