University of Missouri-St. Louis sophomore designated player Leslie Davis (Brighton, Ill./Plasa Southwestern) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.
Davis guided the Tritons to a 4-0 record in league play over the weekend as she batted .615 with an .846 slugging percentage and eight RBIs.
She opened the weekend by going 5-for-8 in UMSL’s doubleheader sweep at Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday. In UMSL’s 17-2 win in the nightcap, Davis was 4-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
On Sunday, UMSL topped Southern Indiana in the first game 11-3 as Davis was 1-for-2 with two runs, an RBI and two walks. She completed the weekend by going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and run scored in the Tritons’ 5-3 victory.
This season, Davis is batting .279 with a team-best 15 RBIs, seven runs, two doubles and two home runs. She is also 3-2 in the circle with a 3.66 ERA.
UMSL (8-8) will host Lincoln, Northern Kentucky and Bellarmine this week.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Shawna Barrow, Indianapolis’ Jamie Keltz, Lewis’ Stephanie Harmon, Maryville’s Shelby Steinkamp, Northern Kentucky’s Emily Schwaeble, Quincy’s Carla Passini and Rockhurst’s Leslie Furdek.
