Saint Joseph’s College junior pitcher Eric Meyerchick (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher Week.

Meyerchick tossed a two-hit shutout on Saturday in Saint Joseph’s 9-0 victory against Quincy. In the win, Meyerchick struck out six batters and walked just one. Quincy hit .083 against him on the afternoon and with the victory Meyerchick capped the Pumas’ doubleheader sweep.

It was the third win of the season for Meyerchick (3-2) and second complete game. He sports a 3.75 earned run average and has recorded 36 strikeouts in 36 innings of work on the year. In his six starts, Meyerchick has limited opponents to a .235 batting average and he has surrendered 15 earned runs.

Saint Joseph’s (14-7-1) is in third place in the GLVC East Division standings with a 7-1 record. The Pumas will open divisional play at UW-Parkside this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Kyle Dyer, Indianapolis’ Clint Seefeldt, Missouri S&T’s Zack Gronek and Northern Kentucky’s Dave Middendorf.
