University of Wisconsin-Parkside senior catcher Krista Kelly (Beaverton, Ore./Southridge) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.
Kelly led the Rangers to a sweep of Rockhurst on Sunday afternoon. She batted .500 on the day with two home runs, six RBIs and two runs scored. Kelly posted a 1.250 slugging percentage in the two contests.
She was 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored in UW-Parkside’s 8-3 decision in the first game over Rockhurst. Kelly returned in the second game to lead the Rangers to a 7-6 win as she again delivered a 2-for-4 effort at the plate and blasted a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to provide the difference in the contest.
On the season, Kelly is batting .313 with a team-best three home runs and 13 RBIs. She boasts a .521 slugging percentage and has added five runs scored.
UW-Parkside (6-12) is 2-2 in the GLVC and will face Missouri-Kansas City today before hosting Winona State, Maryville and Missouri S&T this week.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Courtney deRonde and Missouri-St. Louis’ Heather Arras.
