Lewis University freshman Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. Kranczicki guided the Flyers to a pair of victories over GLVC teams by going 4-0 on the week.
In Lewis’ 8-1 win over Quincy in a non-conference dual match, Kranczicki posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Pam Gamer at No. 1 singles. She also teamed with Zsofia Lanstiak to notch an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles over Anele Novak and Lauren Henry.
Lewis collected a GLVC victory over Saint Joseph’s on Saturday as Kranczicki again posted a pair of wins. She toppled Katee Sanderson at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-3, and teamed with Lanstiak to defeat Sanderson and Cynthia Kegley at No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
On the season, Kranczicki is 15-3 overall in singles competition, including a 6-1 mark at No. 1 singles in dual matches. She and Lanstiak are 4-0 in dual competitions in doubles play and 7-3 overall.
Lewis (4-3) is 1-0 in the GLVC this season with the victory over Saint Joseph’s. The Flyers will return to action at Indianapolis on Friday and at home against Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Alena Perez-Majul, Missouri-St. Louis’ Pujitha Bandi, Rockhurst’s Maureen Reilley and Saint Joseph’s Katee Sanderson.
