Saint Joseph’s College senior Sean Estand (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Estand has guided the Pumas to an eight-game winning streak and, over the weekend, hit .714 in a four-game series at UW-Parkside to pace Saint Joseph’s to the series sweep. He was 10-for-14 with eight runs, six RBIs, four doubles, five walks and a 1.000 slugging percentage in the four contests.
On Saturday, Estand was 5-for-8 as Saint Joseph’s won by scores of 22-4 and 7-5. He was 3-for-5 with four runs, two doubles and an RBI in the opener and went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI in the nightcap.
He returned on Sunday to go 5-for-6, including a 2-for-2 effort with two runs and two RBIs in the day’s first game, a 7-2 Pumas’ victory. In the 3-1 win in game two, Estand was 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
This season, Estand is batting .396 with 32 RBIs, 30 runs, 13 doubles, 16 stolen bases and a .547 slugging percentage.
Saint Joseph’s (18-7-1) leads the GLVC East Division with an 11-1 conference record. The Pumas will travel to Indianapolis for a doubleheader on Wednesday before hosting Lewis in a four-game series this weekend.
