Rockhurst University junior Maureen Rielley (Overland Park, Kan./Bishop Miege) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. Rielley guided the Hawks to three wins last week, including a pair of conference victories.
In Rockhurst’s 8-1 win over Quincy, Rielley collected wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. She topped Quincy’s Lauren Henry, 6-0, 6-0, and teamed with Mary Lanaghen to defeat Henry and Michelle Bertelsman, 8-2.
On Saturday, Rielley defeated Illinois-Springfield’s Druvinka Moraes at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-4, and teamed with Erin Bales to topple Moraes and Jane Brown at No. 1 doubles, 8-3. The Hawks beat UIS in the dual match, 8-1.
Rielley completed the week with a pair of wins over Truman State in Rockhurst’s 7-2 win on Sunday. She defeated Amy Ochs at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-3, and with Bales, defeated Ellen Russell at No. 1 doubles, 8-3.
On the week, Rielley was 3-0 at No. 1 singles and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles. She is ranked No. 1 in the Midwest Region and No. 45 in Division II at No. 1 singles and has a 13-3 overall record. She is 15-1 overall at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles this season.
Rockhurst (13-3) is 2-0 in the GLVC this season and will play Washburn and Drury this weekend.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Rachel Barger, Lewis’ Zsofia Lanstiak, Saint Joseph’s Katee Sanderson and Southern Indiana’s Morgan Coquerille.
