Lewis University senior pitcher Diana Pickrum (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Pickrum helped Lewis extend its winning streak to eight games by posting three shutouts in the circle on the week. The Flyers went 6-0 sweeping doubleheaders from Saint Joseph’s, Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville.

Pickrum opened the week with a five-hit shutout against Saint Joseph’s on Wednesday. She struck out one and did not allow a walk in the Flyers’ 1-0 decision.

She returned on Saturday to limit Missouri-St. Louis to six hits in a 9-0, six-inning victory. She struck out six and did not surrender a walk in the victory.

On Sunday, Pickrum capped the week with a three-hit shutout at Maryville. In the victory, she struck out six and walked two while limiting the Saints to a .115 batting average.

On the season, Pickrum is 10-1 with a 1.25 earned run average. She sports a team-best 40 strikeouts and, in conference play, has posted a 6-0 record with a 0.37 ERA.

Lewis (22-7) is leading the GLVC with an 11-1 conference record. The Flyers will travel to UW-Parkside on Wednesday before hosting Kentucky Wesleyan and Southern Indiana this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Illinois-Springfield’s Aubrey Watson, Indianapolis’ Lauren Edwards, Missouri S&T’s Taylor Keal, Northern Kentucky’s April Ehlers, Rockhurst’s Megan Holm and Southern Indiana’s Madeline Brink.
