Northern Kentucky University senior pitcher Andy Heston (Wilmore, Ky./West Jessamine) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Heston threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout against Saint Joseph’s on Saturday afternoon. In his first career start, Heston struck out a career-high 11 batters and helped the Norse complete a sweep of the Pumas on the day.
In the seven-inning contest, Heston surrendered just one walk and faced just two batters over the minimum. He did not allow a Puma runner to reach second base on the afternoon.
Heston is now 6-0 on the season and is maintaining a 0.84 earned run average. He is second on the team with 35 strikeouts.
Northern Kentucky (19-16) is now 9-11 after posting a 3-1 record over the weekend. The Norse will return to action for a doubleheader with Bellarmine on Tuesday.
