Rockhurst University sophomore pitcher Kayla Hoyer (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Hoyer paced the Hawks to a 5-1 record last week as she collected three wins in the circle. On the week, Hoyer was 3-0 and did not allow a run in posting three shutout victories.
On Wednesday, Hoyer allowed just four hits and struck out four in Rockhurst’s 4-0 win over Northwest Missouri State.
She returned on Saturday to toss a one-hit shutout in an 11-0, five-inning victory over Maryville and then capped the week by leading the Hawks to a 6-0 win over Missouri S&T on Sunday by surrendering just four hits and striking out two.
This season, Hoyer is 4-14 with a 3.75 earned run average. She has recorded 63 strikeouts in 108 and one-third innings pitched.
Rockhurst (15-25) has won six of its last seven contests and currently sits in ninth place in the GLVC Standings at 8-12. The Hawks will host William Jewell tomorrow before traveling to Kentucky Wesleyan this weekend.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Jennifer DeMotte, Lewis’ Karissa Habel, Maryville’s Julie Jouglard, Northern Kentucky’s Chelsie Roy and Quincy’s Torie Bunzell.
