Rockhurst University junior Maureen Rielley (Overland Park, Kan./Bishop Miege High School) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. Rielley went 5-0 in competition last week and helped the Hawks complete an unblemished record in league play.
She opened the week with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Erika Leston of Northwest Missouri State. Rielley and teammate Erin Bales posted a doubles victory over Leston and Leslee Feldhouse at No. 1 doubles, 8-4.
On Friday, Rielley again collected two victories in a 5-0 Rockhurst win over Missouri-St. Louis. Rielley posted a 6-1, 6-4 win over Louisa Werner at No. 1 singles and teamed with Bales to defeat Werner and Henkel at No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
She returned on Saturday to post an 8-2 win over Chelsea Travis at No. 1 singles in Rockhurst’s 7-0 victory over Maryville.
This season, Rielley is 18-3 at No. 1 singles and has posted a 19-1 record at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Rockhurst (16-5) earned the top seed in the GLVC West Division for the upcoming GLVC Tournament and will face Southern Indiana in the first round on Friday.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Maggie Ashby, Lewis’ Zsofia Zsofia Lanstiak and Northern Kentucky’s Jenny Hand.
