University of Indianapolis sophomore Jennifer DeMotte (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.
DeMotte led the Greyhounds to a sweep over No. 18 Lewis on Thursday by performing well in the circle and at the plate.
In the circle against the Flyers, DeMotte tossed a two-hit shutout in the Greyhounds’ 9-0 victory in Thursday’s first game.
DeMotte struck out six and surrendered just two walks to record her fifth shoutout of the season.
She is 17-4 on the year with a 1.33 earned run average and 18 complete games. DeMotte has recorded 146 strikeouts in 141 and two-thirds innings of work. She has allowed just 27 earned runs in her 25 appearances and limited opponents to a .195 batting average.
The 21st-ranked Greyhounds (29-10-1) are 12-6 in the GLVC and will close the regular season with home games against UW-Parkside and Saint Joseph’s this weekend.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Kentucky Wesleyan’s Ashlee Winstead, Quincy’s Torie Bunzell and UW-Parkside’s Kristin Kleinmeyer.
