INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University’s Steven Wright (Dayton, Ohio) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior guard netted 23 points per game in NKU’s two wins last week.
In their 82-66 win over Lewis on Feb. 8, Wright posted 23 points on 7-for-16 (.438) shooting. He pulled down nine rebounds and dished out seven assists in the key GLVC East Division win. Wright was 5-for-10 (.500) from the three-point line and was perfect from the free throw line (4-for-4).
In Northern Kentucky’s 70-66 win over UW-Parkside on Feb. 10, Wright scored 15 of his 23 points in the second half to help the Norse erase a 13-point deficit. He was 9-for-18 (.500) from the field and added seven rebounds, five steals and an assist in the victory. Wright scored five straight points late in the contest to tie the score and put the team ahead for good with a late jumper.
For the week, Wright averaged 23 points, eight rebounds, four assists and 2.5 steals per game. He is leading the Norse with 17 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Northern Kentucky (17-6, 10-5 GLVC) has won three straight and five of its last six games. The Norse hold a 1.5 game lead in the GLVC East.
