University of Indianapolis junior pitcher Chris Saroff (Crown Point, IN/Crown Point) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Saroff threw 10 shutout innings to lift Indianapolis to a 9-6 win at 14th-ranked Southern Indiana on Saturday night. After a rain delay of more than hour, Saroff entered the contest with the score tied at 6-6 in the sixth inning with runners at the corners and no outs. He was able to escape the danger by striking out the side and then no-hit the Eagles for the next seven innings.

In the win, Saroff allowed just five hits, struck out eight and walked two. He allowed just eight base runners in the 10 innings of work and also went 4-for-7 at the plate with a two-run single in the 15th.

Saroff is 1-0 on the season with a 2.79 ERA. He ranks third in the GLVC with seven saves and has recorded 14 strikeouts in 19 and one-third innings of work.

UIndy (26-18) is 15-17 in league play this season. The Greyhounds will close out the regular season with a four-game home series with Kentucky Wesleyan this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Kyle Dyer, Kentucky Wesleyan’s  Shane Waldrop, Lewis’  Joey Gradney, Missouri S&T’s Zack Gronek, Northern Kentucky’s  Andy Heston, Quincy’s Brian Thompson, Rockhurst’s  Jeremy Pope and Saint Joseph’s Chris Chojonwki.
