Drury University senior third baseman Joel Potts (St. Peters, Mo./Fort Zumwalt South) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.

Potts led the Panthers to a four-game sweep over Missouri-St. Louis last week. The senior third baseman was 10-for-16 (.625) at the plate and tallied seven RBIs, three runs, a pair of doubles and a home run.

On Friday, Potts was 2-for-4 in the opening matchup between the two teams as Drury secured a 6-1 victory. He returned in the nightcap to go 2-for-3 with a double, run and two RBIs as the Panthers took the sweep with a 4-3 win.

Potts was a combined 5-for-9 in two games on Saturday. He was 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a home run in the first game of the day, a 14-1 Drury win. In the Panthers’ 11-5 win in the final game of the series, Potts was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs.

This season, Potts is batting a team-best .385 with 33 runs, 28 RBIs, 13 doubles and two home runs.

Drury (28-17) has won eight straight games to move to 17-11 in league play and is currently in third place in the GLVC West Division. The Panthers will wrap the regular season with home games against Pittsburg State and Maryville.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Kentucky Wesleyan’s Davey Murphy, Lewis’ Mike Bolling, Missouri S&T’s Josh Caffrey, Northern Kentucky’s Bryan Rose, Quincy’s Curran Collins, Rockhurst’s Brandon Tangney and Saint Joseph’s Joe Huber.
