Meghan Shagena was tabbed as the GLVC Track Athlete of the Week after recording a 15th-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the Hillsdale “Gina” Relays over the weekend. She posted a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 17:18.32.
The time was a personal best for Shagena and also set a new school record. Her effort was 13 seconds better than the record previously set by Meghan Crowe.
Bellarmine will next compete this weekend at the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Missouri S&T in Rolla, Mo. on May 7-8.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Brenda Varela.
