Lewis University freshman Andrew McLain (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
McLain earned the honor after running the Olympic Development 5,000-meters at the Hillsdale “Gina” Relays on Friday in a time of 14:34.04. The effort was a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time and was the eighth fastest 5,000-meter run in Lewis history.
The time of 14:34.04 also places McLain second in the GLVC and 31st in the nation.
Lewis will return to action at the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Rolla, Mo. on May 7-8.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Quentin Mack, Saint Joseph’s Jeremiah Wright and UW-Parkside’s Evan Lewandowski.
