INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University’s Brittany Winner (Minster, Ohio) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior forward helped the Norse end Lewis’ 13-game winning streak and nailed the game-winner against UW-Parkside last week.
In Northern Kentucky’s 73-61 win over No. 7 Lewis on Feb. 8, Winner posted 22 points on 8-for-11 (.727) shooting. She was 4-for-5 (.800) from the three-point line and perfect from the free throw line (2-for-2). She also collected four rebounds, four assists and three steals. The win snapped the Flyers’ 13-game winning streak and pulled the Norse within two-games of the GLVC East Division lead.
Winner capped the week by going the length of the court in 4.2 seconds and knocking down the game-winning shot in Northern Kentucky’s 60-58 win over visiting UW-Parkside on Feb. 10. She finished with 17 points on 6-for-10 (.600) shooting and was perfect from the three-point (3-for-3) and free throw (2-for-2) lines. Winner also posted three rebounds, one assist, one blocked shot and a steal.
For the week, Winner averaged 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals per game. She is averaging a team-best 11.6 points per game this season and is adding 4.2 rebounds per game.
Northern Kentucky has won ten straight games and improved to 17-5 overall and to 11-4 in the GLVC.
