Missouri S&T sophomore Chris Bowe (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) and Drury University senior R.J. Knese (High Ridge, Mo./St. Mary’s) are the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively.

Bowe led the Miners to their first GLVC West Division title and first conference title of any sort since 1972 by collecting a win on the mound Sunday against division-foe Missouri-St. Louis.

In the Miners’ 4-0 victory, Bowe earned the shutout by limiting UMSL to just two hits on the afternoon. He struck out two and walked just one in limiting the Tritons to a .087 batting average for the contest. Bowe allowed an infield single in the first and a hit in the fifth inning that was later erased on a double play.

On the year, the sophomore is 4-3 with a 3.36 earned run average and 29 strikeouts in 56 and a third innings pitched.

Missouri S&T (28-15) finished the GLVC season with a 21-7 league mark and will be the No. 2 seed for the upcoming GLVC Tournament. The Miners will face a yet to be determined opponent at 12:30 on Friday at UMSL Field.

Knese helped the Panthers extend their school-record winning streak to 13 games by hitting .550 in five contests last week. He was 11-for-20 at the plate in wins over Pittsburg State and Maryville and delivered seven runs, nine RBIs, three doubles, a pair of triples and four stolen bases. He posted a slugging percentage of .900 and a .591 on-base percentage.

In the Panthers’ 14-1 win over Pittsburg State on Tuesday, Knese was 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases.

He returned on Saturday in Drury’s sweep of Maryville to go 4-for-8 with three RBIs, two doubles and a run scored. On Sunday, the Panthers closed out the series sweep with a pair of victories and Knese went 5-for-9 with four RBIs, three runs, a double and triple.

This season, the senior catcher is batting .335 with 42 runs, 43 RBIs, 21 doubles, four triples, four home runs and a slugging percentage of .557.

The Panthers (33-17) wound the GLVC regular season with a 21-11 record and placed third in the West Division. Drury earned the No. 6 seed in the GLVC Tournament.
