Northern Kentucky University freshman forward Stacie Volker (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. Volker tallied nine points as the Norse cruised past Findlay and Tiffin over the weekend.
In NKU’s 7-1 win at Findlay on Friday, Volker tallied the game-winner from 15 yards out at the 11 minute mark as she converted a pass from Amanda Mason. She followed her first career collegiate goal with an assist on Allison Ponzer’s second tally of the day just minutes later.
On Sunday, Volker posted her first career hat trick in just her second collegiate contest in NKU’s 9-0 win over Tiffin. She scored her first goal in the 11th minute on assists from Mason and Kelsey Laumann to give the Norse an early 2-0 advantage.
In the 14th minute, Volker pushed the score to 3-0 after converting an assist via a Mason takeaway in Tiffin territory. She tallied her third and final goal of the day in the 28th minute off an assist from Ponzer.
On the week, Volker finished with nine points on four goals and an assist.
NKU (2-0) will host Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday in the opener of GLVC action before traveling to meet Southern Indiana on Sunday.
