INDIANAPOLIS – Southern Indiana junior Michael Jordan (Indianapolis, IN/Pike) was voted as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. He led the Eagles to a first place finish at the Covered Bridge Open in Boone, North Carolina this past weekend.
Jordan finished third out of 111 runners and completed the 8k race with a time of 25:42. The race included participants from several Division I programs including Florida State, Wake Forest, North Florida, High Point, and Appalachian State. Jordan’s time trailed the winner by only 13 seconds. Jordan’s time was also the top 8k finish in the GLVC this week.
The Eagles finished with 42 points, 17 points ahead of the second place team Florida State, and placed three runners in the top 10. The team will be in action again on Sept. 16 at the Indiana Intercollegiate.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Lewis’ Andrew McLain, Maryville’s Casey Humphrey and Northern Kentucky’s Adam Gloyeske.
