INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University’s Amanda Smith (Canal Winchester, Ohio) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week. The sophomore finished the week with a 1.75 earned run average and helped the Norse start the year with a 2-2 record.

In Northern Kentucky’s 6-0 win over Arkansas Tech on Feb. 9, Smith posted a complete-game shutout. She pitched all seven innings and allowed just two hits and no walks. Smith ended the game with three strikeouts.

Smith made two other appearances on the trip, both coming against host North Alabama. She went four innings in the team’s 5-1 opening loss on Feb. 10. Smith allowed seven hits and three earned runs, while striking out two.

In Northern Kentucky’s 5-4 loss in the nightcap on Feb. 10, Smith pitched one inning and surrendered one unearned run and three hits.

She ended the weekend 1-2 with a 1.75 earned run average and five strikeouts.

Northern Kentucky (2-2) will return to action on Feb. 23 in Huntsville, Ala.
