Northern Kentucky University senior midfielder Amanda Mason (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. Mason helped the Norse pick up a pair of league victories over the weekend by tallying seven points in the two matches.
On Friday, in a 7-0 win over William Jewell, Mason assisted on Kathryn Hale’s game-winning goal in the fifth minute. She added an insurance goal for the Norse in the 16th minute by knocking home a corner from Laura Painter. Mason tallied her second goal of the match in the 69th minute on an assist from Allison Ponzer.
NKU (5-1) defeated Rockhurst on Sunday, 2-0, as Mason iced the contest with a goal in the 79th minute on assists from Jordan Hodge and Megan Frye.
For the week, Mason collected seven points on three goals and an assist. She finished with nine shots, seven on goal.
Mason leads the Norse with six goals, eight assists and 20 points this season. She ranks first in the GLVC in points and assists and second in goals scored.
NKU is 3-1 in the GLVC with the wins and will visit Drury and Missouri S&T this weekend.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Alex Kuwalski, Drury’s Nicole Williams, Indianapolis’ Nicole Duncan, Quincy’s Sam Andert, Southern Indiana’s Stephanie Bodamer and UW-Parkside’s Shannon Becker.
