Lewis University junior outside hitter Jen Krumwiede (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial/IPFW) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Krumwiede helped the 22nd-ranked Flyers to a pair of wins on the week, including an upset of No. 12 Northern Kentucky on Saturday.

On the week, Krumwiede averaged 5.00 points, 4.71 kills and 2.14 digs per set. She posted a .467 hitting percentage, contributed four block assists and handled all 31 reception attempts on the weekend in helping Lewis hold both opponents to a sub-.200 team hitting percentage.

In Friday’s sweep of visiting Bellarmine, Krumwiede finished with 13 kills, seven digs and two block assists and recorded a .500 hitting percentage.

Krumwiede led the Flyers to a four-set victory over Northern Kentucky on Saturday by posting a career-high 20 kills with a .450 hitting percentage. She did not record a hitting error until the fourth set and also contributed eight digs and two block assists.

Lewis (8-4) improved to 4-3 in the GLVC with the victories and is currently fifth in the East Division standings. The Flyers will travel to Maryville and Missouri-St. Louis this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Sara Borneman, Indianapolis’ Kristina Hefferan, Maryville’s Ashlee Brockenbrough, Quincy’s Christine Williams, Rockhurst’s Maggie McGovern, Southern Indiana’s Lauren DeShaney and UW-Parkside’s Bridget Nickel.
