INDIANAPOLIS –Lewis University sophomore Andrew McLain (Fort Wayne, IN/Homestead) was voted as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. McLain’s first place finish led the Flyers to a fourth place team finish at the Brismann Lundeen Invite hosted by Augustana College on Friday.

McLain covered the 8k Saukie Valley Golf Course with a time of 24:52.8, six whole seconds in front of the second place finish. He ousted 402 other runners en route to the title. This time not only earned him first place at the event, but also earned him the new 8k top time in the GLVC.  McLain also currently owns the second fastest 6k time in the GLVC.
McLain helped lead the Flyers to a 4th place team finish at the event behind Augustana, Olivet Nazarene, and UW-Stevens Point, all of which are ranked in the top 25 of their respective divisions . McLain and the Lewis squad will be back in action again on October 7 at the Benedictine Eagle Classic.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included UW-Parkside’s Evan Lewandowski.
