Rockhurst University sophomore forward Mark Magee (Evesham, England/Chipping Campden) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. Magee helped the Hawks to a pair of victories in league play over the weekend.
In Rockhurst’s 2-0 win at Illinois Springfield on Friday, Magee added the insurance goal in the 64th minute on an assist from Keith Williams.
He returned in the Hawks’ 5-0 win at Quincy on Sunday to post a goal and three assists. Magee assisted on Nick McDonalds’ goal in the 13th minute to give Rockhurst an early 2-0 advantage and also assisted on Nate Siesener’s goal in the 41st minute to extend the lead to 3-0 at the break. He then tallied an unassisted goal in the 59th minute and helped complete the scoring with an assist on Jake Grimes’ goal in the 75th minute.
On the week, Magee finished with a goal, three assists and seven points.
He has seven goals, six assists and 20 points on the year and ranks first in the league in points per game (2.50), third in goals per game (0.88) and second in assists per game (0.75).
Rockhurst (7-2) sits alone in third place in the GLVC standings with a 6-2 league mark. The Hawks will host Maryville and Missouri-St. Louis this weekend.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Matt Franco, Maryville’s Nick Doherty, Missouri-St. Louis’ Tim Boruff, Northern Kentucky’s Ben Dorn and Quincy’s Grant Ellison.
