Northern Kentucky University freshman forward Kelsey Laumann (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. Laumann tallied three goals in helping the Norse to wins over Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis over the weekend.

In NKU’s 3-2 win over visiting UW-Parkside on Friday, Laumann put home a cross from Allison Ponzer in the 20th minute to give the Norse a quick 2-0 advantage.

After the Rangers had pulled to within 2-1, Laumann again handled a Ponzer cross to score the eventual game-winner in the 57th minute.

On Sunday, Laumann posted the game-winning goal in a 3-0 victory over Lewis. She tallied the score in the 20th minute on assists from Abbey Scherer and Kristi Hofmeyer.

For the week, Laumann finished with six points and now has seven goals, five assists and 19 points on the season.

She ranks third in the league in points, is tied for fourth in goals scored and tied for fifth in assists per game.

The 19th-ranked Norse (9-1) have won six straight matches and are tied for first place in the GLVC with a 7-1 conference record. NKU will visit Saint Joseph’s and Indianapolis this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Kristen Conway, Maryville’s Cydney Robertson, Quincy’s Jodie Chapie and Rockhurst’s Taylor Skala.
