INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Drury University’s John Tollenaar (Thayer, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week. The freshman outfielder helped lead the Panthers to a doubleheader sweep of Truman State in the school’s first baseball games since 1972.
Tollenaar finished 1-for-2 in Drury’s 10-0 win over visiting Truman State on Feb. 11. His lone hit was a two-run home run in the fifth inning and he was also hit by a pitch in the contest.
In Drury’s 12-7 win in the nightcap, Tollenaar finished 2-for-3 with a double and his second home run on the afternoon. He collected three runs batted in, two runs scored and a walk in the victory.
On the day, Tollenaar was 3-for-5 (.600) with five RBI, four runs, two home runs and a double.
Drury (2-0) will return to action at Meador Park next weekend against visiting Missouri Western.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Rockhurst’s Steve Braun.
