University of Indianapolis freshman setter Meghan Binkerd (Wabash, Ind./Southwood) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Binkerd guided No. 23 UIndy to three league wins last week and into sole possession of first place in the GLVC East Division.

In the Greyhounds’ sweep of Saint Joseph’s on Tuesday, Binkerd finished with 36 assists and nine digs.

She returned on Friday to help UIndy knock off No. 14 Northern Kentucky, 3-1. In the match, Binkerd posted 50 assists, 11 digs, six kills and three blocks.

Binkerd completed the week with her second straight double-double as she recorded 48 assists and 10 digs in a three-set win over visiting Bellarmine on Saturday.

For the week, Binkerd averaged 13.40 assists, 3.00 digs and 1.00 kills per set. She paced the Greyhounds to a .291 hitting percentage in the three matches.

UIndy (18-6) moved to 14-2 in the GLVC with the three league wins. The Greyhounds hold a one-game lead over Lewis and Southern Indiana in the GLVC East Division standings and will conclude the regular season with road matches at UW-Parkside and Lewis this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Lewis’ Danielle Mount, Missouri &T’s Erin Bekebrede and Rockhurst’s Maggie McGovern.
