INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Lewis University’s Andy Tremble (Oregon, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Male Track and Field Athlete of the Week. The senior runner posted a NCAA Division II National Qualifying mark in the mile-run at the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 10.
At the event held in Ames, Iowa, Tremble posted a time of 4:10.55 to place 13th. He was the top Division II runner at the event and has the top mile time in the GLVC this season.
On Feb. 9, Tremble anchored the Flyers’ Distance Medley Relay team that posted a school record and automatic qualifying time for the NCAA Division II Championships. The team finished sixth among 22 participating teams at the event in a time of 9:51.51. The mark surpassed the school record time of 9:55.09 set in 2006.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Elliot Mattingly, Saint Joseph’s Kyle Lawson and Southern Indiana’s Paul Jellema.
