INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Jessica Lamp (Powers Lake, Wis.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Female Track and Field Athlete of the Week. The sophomore runner set a new school record in the 800-meter run at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Women’s Classic on Feb. 10.

Lamp posted a time of 2:10.70 to claim first-place at the event. Her time bested the school record she set at last season’s NCAA Division II National Championships. Lamp finished fourth at the nationals last season in a time of 2:13.24. Her mark on Saturday is an automatic qualifying time for this season’s National Championships.

On the year, Lamp
has broken the UW-P 600-meter run record with a time of 1:36.16, won the UW-Madison Elite Invitational 800-meter run with a time 2:14.08, is currently a member of the school record Distance Medley Relay Team that is Provisionally Qualified (12:05.98) and ran a career best Mile in her first meet (4:58.94).

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Kristen Geiger, Lewis’ Terran Wertz and Southern Indiana’s Missy Burgin.
