INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.Lewis University’s Jason Genova (Chicago, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The sophomore forward posted game-highs in points against both Saint Joseph’s and UIndy last week.

 

In Lewis’ 87-60 win over Saint Joseph’s on Feb. 15, Genova netted a career-high 31 points on 11-for-18 (.611) shooting. He buried 6-of-13 (.545) three-point attempts and finished 3-for-4 (.750) from the free throw line. Genova also collected two rebounds, two steals and an assist in the win.

 

Genova scored a game-high 24 points in Lewis’ 65-60 win over UIndy on Feb. 17. He was 9-for-15 (.750) from the field and again delivered a 6-for-11 (.545) effort from behind the three-point arc. Genova added three rebounds and a blocked shot in the victory.

 

For the week, Genova averaged 27.5 points per game and shot 60.6 percent from the field, including a 54.5 percent effort from the three-point line. He is averaging 16.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game this season.

 

Lewis (15-10) has won three straight games and is in sole possession of second-place in the GLVC East Division at 10-7.

 

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Brandon Kimbrough, Quincy’s Joel Box, Rockhurst’s Aaron Hill, Southern Indiana’s Geoff Van Winkle and UW-Parkside’s Juan Lopez.
