INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Sabra McCune (DuQuoin, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week. The senior helped the Cougars to a 3-2 weekend at the West Georgia Wolves’ Invitational.

McCune collected a 3-1 win over North Alabama on Feb. 16. She pitched a complete-game and struck out 12. McCune allowed just one earned run and five hits, while walking none.

She returned on Feb. 17 to pitch six innings in the Cougars’ 6-3 loss to No. 14 Columbus State. McCune allowed five earned runs and struck out three in the contest.

She finished the weekend with a 1-1 record, a 3.23 earned run average, two complete games and 15 strikeouts. She walked just three in 13 innings. Her double-digit strikeout performance against North Alabama was the 11th of her career at SIU Edwardsville.

SIU Edwardsville is 3-2 overall this season and will return home on Feb. 24-25 for the Cougar Classic.
