INDIANAPOLIS-Bellarmine University junior third baseman Madi Ratliff (Louisville, KY/Male) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week while Drury junior pitcher Monica Villarreal (Oceanside, CA/Carlsbad/Palomar CC) has been tabbed the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week after their weekend performances.
Ratliff and the Bellarmine Knights split games with Ashland and Ohio Dominican over the weekend. On the week, Ratliff dominated from the plate hitting .545 in eleven at bats. She belted four home runs in four games and tallied five total RBIs to help the Knights go 2-2 on the weekend in Ohio.
Drury pitcher Monica Villarreal earned GLVC weekly honors after pitching the first no-hitter in Drury Softball history as the Panthers defeated Northeastern State 1-0 on Sunday. Villarreal struck out six batters en route to the record.
Bellarmine moves to an even 7-7 on the year and will look forward to a March 3 meeting with Maryville while Drury (7-4) will head to Jefferson City for a double-header with Lincoln on February 29.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Lewis’ Michelle Vucsko (SS) and Ali Brems (P), Indianapolis’ Kelsey Rummel (INF), Missouri-St. Louis' Jena Boudreau (P) and Madison Zbaraschuk (C), Northern Kentucky’s Kaylin Steinmetz (CF), Quincy’s Monica Gray (LF), Illinois Springfield’s Chelsea Minor (C), Drury’s Stacy Razo and Rockhurst’s Natalie Johnson (SS).
