INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis senior Uno Lapimaa (Tallin, Estonia/Audentese) has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Lapimaa, who helped the Flyers to a 2-0 record last week, carded a 4-0 mark as their No. 1 singles and doubles player. In Lewis’ 7-2 win at No. 27 Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, Lapimaa defeated Josh Raymond in straight sets 6-4, 6-0, and then joined teammate Erik Aunapuu to top Raymond and Yeswanth Nadella – the No. 2 ranked doubles team in the country – by an 8-3 count.
Lapimaa then beat Tyler Johnston of Ohio Dominican, 6-0, 6-3, in the Flyers’ 8-1 victory on Saturday. He also earned an 8-3 win in No.1 doubles play, outing Johnston and Claude Badowski for the victory.
Lewis has won its last seven matches and has improved to 7-1 on the campaign.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Andy Blair, Illinois Springfield’s Ben Main, Northern Kentucky’s Martin Leroy, and Southern Indiana’s Santiago Lopez.
