Lewis University sophomore Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season. Lanstiak compiled a perfect 6-0 record at the No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles slot to help guide the Flyers to a pair of wins over regional opponents Truman State and Northwest Missouri State over the weekend.

In Friday’s matchup with Truman State, Lanstiak failed to drop a game in her 6-0, 6-0 singles victory over Truman’s Ellen Russell marking her 15th-straight singles victory. She then teamed up with Brianna Markgraf to take an 8-2 victory at the No. 2 doubles slot to help the Flyers to a 7-2 team triumph.

Lanstiak returned Saturday to tab a 6-0, 6-3 win over Northwest Missouri State’s Camila Quesada at No. 1 singles. She and Markgraf then tallied an 8-3 victory over Northwest’s Erika Leston and Leslee Feldhaus as the Flyers squeezed past the Bearcats 5-4.
On Sunday, despite a 6-3 team loss to Rockhurst, Lanstiak again tallied a 6-0, 6-0 individual win over the ITA Midwest Region’s eighth-ranked  Maureen Rielley.  She and Markgraf tabulated another win defeating Rockhurst’s No. 2 doubles duo of Mary and Rachel Lanaghen 8-4.
Lanstiak has compiled a dominating 23-2 singles record to date and boasts a 24-2 record in doubles. As a team, the Lewis squad moves to 11-2 on the year and will return to action Friday afternoon as they open divisional conference play with a home match against Saint Joseph’s.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Maggie Ashby, Quincy’s Ashley Longshore, and William Jewell’s Hana Lindbloom.
