Schwaeble was stellar both in the circle and at the plate last week, leading the Norse to a 6-2 record over Bellarmine, Indianapolis, Saint Joseph’s and non-conference foe Cedarville. She picked up double-digit strikeouts in all three appearances last week, marking the ninth time she accomplished that feat this season. In 23.0 innings pitched, Schwaeble went the distance in all three games, fanning 32 batters while waking seven, to end the week with a 1.83 ERA. She also became NKU’s first 20-game winner since Amanda Smith went 24-12 in 2006. At the plate, Schwaeble was equally impressive. She hit five home runs, doubling her season total to 10, and set a new NKU record by collecting eight RBIs on the back of a pair of grand slams against Cedarville. Against Indianapolis, her two-run homer in the ninth inning proved to be the game-winner over the second-ranked team in the country. After her three multi-hit games last week, Schwaeble now has 17 on the season to lead the team.
